FOOD PANTRY PROGRAM

The Georgia Food Bank, Inc. Food Pantry Program is designed to ensure economically disadvantaged families receive the essential food and medicinal products they need to live a healthier life.

We do this by utilizing food and medicinal products received through our Food Bank Program. These items are transferred into our food pantry where volunteers from the community separate and repack food, health, and beauty aids and assorted drink products for redistribution to the public. Each food box contains items such as cereal, canned goods, soups and other types of food products that we have in our inventory. Each box packed contains the same amount and same type product with the total pounds being received per family per visit being approximately 75 pounds.

The counties we presently service in Georgia are, Carroll, Cobb, Coweta, Douglas, Forsyth, Fulton, Haralson, Heard, Paulding, Polk, and Rockdale Counties. Families from each of these counties come to our facility in Tallapoosa, Georgia and pick-up their food boxes.

The counties we presently serve in Alabama are Calhoun, Cleburne, Randolph, and Talladega.

Because we are an "Independent Organization"we can give assistance to any family, anywhere assistance is needed.

Referrals are taken from local law enforcement agencies, Department of Family and Children Services, County Health Departments, and other Human Services related organizations.

All families are required to complete an application showing principal address, number in household and ages, proof of income, proof of residence, and identification, eg. Social Security Card, Drivers License, Medicaid Card, etc. This information is required for every member in household.
